Type: kshetra
Listener: Īśvara
Scene: Devī, poised and luminous, questions Īśvara about Sāmba; behind them, a faint vision of Sāṃbapura and the thousand-rayed Sun as a boon-giver, indicating the story about to unfold.
Merit (puṇya) and sacred association (a tīrtha linked to a devotee) become causes for divine favor and boon-bestowal.
The narrative context is Prabhāsakṣetra; the verse also alludes to a Sun-associated city named after Sāmba (Sāmbapura).
None explicitly; the focus is on puṇya-karma as the basis for Sūrya’s boon-giving.
