गोः स्वर्गादागता यस्मादिदं स्थानं मती मता । तस्माद्धि गोमतीनाम ख्यातिं लोके गमिष्यति
goḥ svargādāgatā yasmādidaṃ sthānaṃ matī matā | tasmāddhi gomatīnāma khyātiṃ loke gamiṣyati
Karena tempat ini dipandang berasal dari ‘go’—sapi surgawi yang datang dari surga—maka tirtha ini dimuliakan demikian; sebab itu nama “Gomatī” sungguh akan termasyhur di dunia.
