पूर्वं कृतयुगस्यांते बलिना च पुरंदरः । निर्जित्य भ्रंशितः स्थानात्तदर्थं मधुसूदनः
pūrvaṃ kṛtayugasyāṃte balinā ca puraṃdaraḥ | nirjitya bhraṃśitaḥ sthānāttadarthaṃ madhusūdanaḥ
Dahulu, pada penghujung Kṛta Yuga, Indra sang Purandara ditaklukkan oleh Bali dan dijatuhkan dari kedudukannya; demi memulihkan tatanan dharma, Madhusūdana pun turun tangan.
