पुरा चित्रांगदो नाम राजा परमलोभवान् । न तेन सुकृतं किंचित्कृतं पार्थिवसत्तम
purā citrāṃgado nāma rājā paramalobhavān | na tena sukṛtaṃ kiṃcitkṛtaṃ pārthivasattama
Dahulu ada seorang raja bernama Citrāṅgada, sangat dikuasai loba. Wahai raja termulia, ia sama sekali tidak melakukan satu pun perbuatan kebajikan (puṇya).
Pulastya (continuing narration)
Greed and neglect of sukṛta (merit) are presented as spiritual failures that set the stage for suffering and the need for purification.
The narrative belongs to Yama Tīrtha Māhātmya (Adhyāya 18), preparing the listener for the tīrtha’s redemptive power.
None in this verse; it introduces a moral-historical episode to explain later tīrtha benefits.
