Ṛṣis (Sages)
Tirtha: Sarasi-tīrtha (sages’ āśrama)
Type: kund
Scene: A band of emaciated yet radiant sages, having roamed the earth to the ocean’s edge, stand by a lotus lake; they live on lotus-stalks and courteously dismiss Indra, blessing him to gain good from their meeting.
True spiritual life is a disciplined pilgrimage sustained by austerity; association with sages is itself a source of śreyas (highest good).
The sages’ tīrtha-āśrama region described in Nāgara Khaṇḍa’s Tīrthamāhātmya (the setting around the sacred lake).
No formal rite is prescribed here; the emphasis is on tapas and austere sustenance as part of spiritual pilgrimage.
