प्रष्टव्या च ततो माता तस्याश्चापि च या भवेत् । जननी चापि प्रष्टव्या तस्याश्चापि च या भवेत्
praṣṭavyā ca tato mātā tasyāścāpi ca yā bhavet | jananī cāpi praṣṭavyā tasyāścāpi ca yā bhavet
Kemudian hendaklah ditanyai ibunya, dan juga dia yang menjadi ibu dari ibunya. Demikian pula hendaklah ditanyai leluhur dari garis ibu, serta dia yang menjadi ibu dari ibunya—dengan demikian garis maternal diperiksa dengan saksama untuk upacara.
