स्कंद उवाच । शृण्वगस्त्य महाभाग भविष्यं कथयाम्यहम् । कृष्णद्वैपायनो व्यासोऽकथयद्यन्महद्वचः । निश्चिकेतुमनाः पश्चाद्यत्करिष्यति तच्छृणु
skaṃda uvāca | śṛṇvagastya mahābhāga bhaviṣyaṃ kathayāmyaham | kṛṣṇadvaipāyano vyāso'kathayadyanmahadvacaḥ | niściketumanāḥ paścādyatkariṣyati tacchṛṇu
Skanda bersabda: Dengarlah, wahai Agastya yang mulia; akan kukisahkan masa depan. Dengarkan pula sabda agung yang pernah diucapkan oleh Kṛṣṇadvaipāyana Vyāsa; dan dengarkan apa yang kelak akan ia lakukan, setelah berniat meneguhkannya.
