labdhopi siddhiṃ no yāyādyadi kuddhyettrilocanaḥ | tasmādviśveśvaraṃ nityaṃ śaraṇyaṃ śaraṇaṃ vrajet
Type: kshetra
Scene: A yogin displaying siddhis (levitation, radiance) pauses as Śiva’s three-eyed gaze turns stern; the yogin then bows at Viśveśvara’s liṅga, offering bilva and water; the atmosphere shifts from pride to surrender and peace.
Siddhis are secondary; true success depends on Śiva’s grace—hence constant refuge in Viśveśvara is the highest path.
Viśveśvara (Viśvanātha) of Kāśī, the central Śaiva deity associated with the city’s liberating power.
The prescription is devotional: always seek śaraṇa (refuge) in Viśveśvara—implying regular worship, remembrance, and surrender.
