Skanda Purana — Kashi Khanda, Shloka 95

श्रुतिस्मृतिपुराणज्ञा ब्राह्मणाः परिकीर्तिताः । तदुक्ताचारचरणा इतरे नामधारकाः

Transliteration

śrutismṛtipurāṇajñā brāhmaṇāḥ parikīrtitāḥ | taduktācāracaraṇā itare nāmadhārakāḥ

Translation

Mereka yang sungguh mengetahui Śruti, Smṛti, dan Purāṇa-lah yang dipuji sebagai Brāhmaṇa; dan yang menapaki laku (ācāra) sebagaimana diajarkan di sana, merekalah Brāhmaṇa sejati—yang lain hanya Brāhmaṇa pada nama saja.
