Sthala Purana: Instruction concerns covering/concealing the prepared ritual base/object with fine cloth and performing mantra-vinyāsa (nyāsa). Not a site-specific Jyotirliṅga episode.
Significance: Mantra-vinyāsa sacralizes space and implements, transforming ordinary matter into fit upacāras for Śiva; supports inner purification and steadiness in worship.
Role: teaching
It teaches that worship becomes efficacious when outer actions are sanctified by mantra—nyāsa turns the ritual space and the worshipper’s intention into a consecrated field directed to Pati (Shiva), loosening pāśa (bondage) through disciplined remembrance.
The instruction to cover and then install mantras “everywhere” indicates a formal saguna-upāsanā procedure: the Linga and its surroundings are ritually prepared, and Shiva is approached through specific mantras that invoke His presence in the icon for focused devotion.
Mantra-nyāsa: covering the worship-object/altar with a clean cloth and then performing systematic mantra placements (aṅga/karanyāsa or āvaraṇa-nyāsa as applicable), reciting each mantra before the corresponding placement.
