Shiva Purana — Vayaviya Samhita, Shloka 50

पूजास्थानशुद्धिः पात्रशोधनं च — Purification of the Worship-Space and Preparation of Ritual Vessels

प्रथमं देवमुद्दिश्य कृत्वा स्नानादिकाः क्रियाः । देव्यैः प्रश्चात्प्रकुर्वीत देवदेवस्य शासनात्

prathamaṃ devamuddiśya kṛtvā snānādikāḥ kriyāḥ | devyaiḥ praścātprakurvīta devadevasya śāsanāt

Pertama-tama, dengan menujukan hati kepada Sang Dewa (Śiva), lakukanlah tata-ritus yang dimulai dengan pemandian suci; sesudah itu, sesuai titah Dewa para dewa, lakukan pemujaan kepada Sang Dewi (Śakti/Devī).
