भ्रान्तिस्त्वं स्मृतिरूपा त्वं मातृरूपेण संस्थिता । त्वं लक्ष्मीर्भवने पुंसां पुण्याक्षरप्रवर्तिनाम्
bhrāntistvaṃ smṛtirūpā tvaṃ mātṛrūpeṇa saṃsthitā | tvaṃ lakṣmīrbhavane puṃsāṃ puṇyākṣarapravartinām
Engkaulah kebingungan, dan Engkaulah pula wujud ingatan, tegak sebagai Sang Ibu. Di rumah orang yang menggerakkan aksara suci—yang melantunkan mantra—Engkaulah Lakṣmī.

Significance: Connects mantra-sādhana with śrī/auspiciousness: those who ‘set sacred syllables in motion’ (japa/adhyāya) experience Devī as Lakṣmī in the home—prosperity aligned with dharma and devotion.

It declares Devī’s all-pervasive śakti: she is both the power that veils (bhrānti) and the power that restores right recollection (smṛti). From a Śaiva lens, bondage and release operate through Śakti under Pati (Śiva), and grace arises when remembrance turns toward the sacred.
Mantra and worship (including Liṅga-pūjā) are ‘sacred syllables’ in action. The verse teaches that when devotees sustain mantra-japa and devotion to Saguna Śiva, Devī becomes Lakṣmī-like auspiciousness in their home—supporting dharma, purity, and steadiness in worship.
Regular japa of sacred syllables—especially the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—with a devotional, mother-centered bhāva toward Umā/Śakti, so that remembrance (smṛti) overcomes delusion (bhrānti) and the household becomes auspicious.
