Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Significance: Śravaṇa/pāṭha of the rahasya is framed as a direct means to pāpa-kṣaya and elevation to ṛṣi-loka (a merit-fruit akin to tīrtha/vrata-phala).
It declares that śravaṇa (listening) and pāṭha (recitation) of Shiva’s highest esoteric teaching purify pāpa and elevate the devotee toward the rishi-ideal—life oriented to jñāna, tapas, and liberation under Pati (Shiva).
In Shaiva practice, hearing and reciting Shiva-kathā supports devotion to Saguna Shiva (as Linga and Lord) and gradually matures the mind for the deeper ‘secret’—recognition of Shiva as Pati who frees the bound soul (paśu) from pāśa.
Regular śravaṇa of Shiva Purana passages and daily pāṭha (recitation) as a vrata-like discipline; it can be paired with japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and a simple, steady listening/recitation routine for purification.
