Diter Vratabhaṅga and Indra’s Intervention
Diti–Kaśyapa Narrative
तथा हिरण्यरोमाणं पर्जन्यस्य प्रजापतेः । उदीच्यां दिशि राजानं दुर्धर्षं सोऽभ्यषेचयत्
tathā hiraṇyaromāṇaṃ parjanyasya prajāpateḥ | udīcyāṃ diśi rājānaṃ durdharṣaṃ so'bhyaṣecayat
Demikian pula, ia menobatkan Hiraṇyaromā, dari Prajāpati Parjanya, sebagai raja yang tak tertandingi di arah utara.
Suta Goswami (narrating the consecrations within the Uma Samhita’s discourse)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
The verse highlights dharmic order in creation: beings are installed into rightful roles, reflecting Shiva’s governance of the cosmos where harmony arises from proper consecration and responsibility.
Directional kingship and protection are functions within Saguna Shiva’s ordered universe; devotion to Shiva (often through the Linga) aligns the devotee with this divinely established order and protection.
A practical takeaway is to perform Shiva worship with a sense of dik-smaraṇa (remembrance of the directions) and protection—reciting the Panchakshara while offering water and mentally dedicating one’s duties to Shiva’s cosmic order.
