Though it describes outward warfare, the Shiva Purana also uses such intensity to mirror the inner struggle where the bound soul (paśu) confronts bondage (pāśa); true victory is steadiness and alignment with Shiva (Pati) amid agitation.
In the midst of conflict and change, Saguna Shiva is remembered as the stabilizing Lord; Linga-worship trains the mind to return to the unmoving center—Shiva—while the ‘battlefield’ of emotions and impulses rages.
A practical takeaway is japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with breath-awareness to steady the mind during turmoil; if observing Shiva-vrata, reinforce it with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and calm, disciplined conduct.
