Sukta 7.18
न त इन्द्र सुमतयो न रायः संचक्षे पूर्वा उषसो न नूत्नाः । देवकं चिन्मान्यमानं जघन्थाव त्मना बृहतः शम्बरं भेत् ॥
ná ta indra sumatáyo ná rā́yaḥ saṁcákṣe pū́rvā uṣáso ná nū́tnāḥ | devákaṁ cin mānyamānáṁ jaghánthā́va tmánā bṛhatáḥ śámbaraṁ bhet ||
Wahai Indra, kebijaksanaanmu yang baik dan kelimpahanmu tak pernah habis—laksana fajar-fajar, senantiasa purba namun selalu baru. Bahkan Devaka, yang mengira dirinya agung, telah Engkau tumbangkan; dan dengan diri-Mu sendiri yang maha-luas Engkau meremukkan Śambara, kepungan yang besar itu.
