Sarga 95: Lamentation in Laṅkā and the Causal Chain of Enmity
रुद्रोवायदिवाविष्णुर्महेन्द्रोवाशतक्रतुः ।।।।हन्तिनोरामरूपेणयदिवास्वयमन्तकः ।
rudro vā yadi vā viṣṇur mahendro vā śatakratuḥ |
hanti no rāma-rūpeṇa yadi vā svayam antakaḥ ||6.95.24||
Apakah itu Rudra, atau Wisnu, atau Mahendra yang melakukan seratus yajña—atau maut itu sendiri—yang dalam wujud Rama sedang membinasakan kami?
"Is it Rudra, or Lord Vishnu, or Indra, who has done hundred sacrifices in the past or is it that the god of death itself has taken the form of Rama and killed him?"
When adharma matures, its correction can feel like an unstoppable cosmic force. The verse conveys that moral law (dharma) ultimately prevails with a power that appears divine and inescapable.
As Ravana’s side suffers repeated defeats, the survivors interpret Rama’s prowess as superhuman, equating him with major deities or Death.
Rama’s awe-inspiring efficacy in upholding righteousness—so overwhelming that enemies perceive it as divine ordinance.
