FAQs

Dharma is presented as safeguarding righteous custom and social order; deceit that disrupts rightful conduct must be endured or corrected without abandoning truth.

Daśaratha laments that Kaikeyī’s instigation has produced a deception against him, and interprets Rāma’s resolve as an attempt to carry him through that crisis.

Rāma’s protective sense of duty toward his father—seeking to ‘carry him across’ moral peril by upholding the father’s pledged word.
