The Exposition of Spiritual Knowledge
Jñāna-pradarśanam
सनक उवाच । पुनर्वक्ष्यामि माहात्म्यं देवदेवस्य चक्रिणः । पठतां शृण्वतां सद्यः पापराशिः प्रणश्यति 1. ॥ १ ॥
sanaka uvāca | punarvakṣyāmi māhātmyaṃ devadevasya cakriṇaḥ | paṭhatāṃ śṛṇvatāṃ sadyaḥ pāparāśiḥ praṇaśyati 1. || 1 ||
Sanaka bersabda: Aku akan kembali menyatakan kemuliaan Dewa segala dewa, Sang Cakra-dhārī (Viṣṇu). Bagi yang melantunkan dan yang mendengarkan, tumpukan dosa lenyap seketika.
Sanaka
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It establishes śravaṇa (hearing) and pāṭha (recitation) of Viṣṇu’s māhātmya as direct purifying practices, asserting immediate destruction of accumulated pāpa through devotional contact with the Lord’s glory.
By highlighting listening and recitation as effective devotional limbs (bhakti-aṅgas), the verse frames bhakti as accessible: engaging the mind and speech in Viṣṇu-kathā quickly cleanses sin and turns the heart toward the Lord.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught here; the practical takeaway is the sādhana-method of śravaṇa and pāṭha—structured listening/recitation of sacred narrative as a purificatory discipline.
