Orang bijaksana tidak sepatutnya menikahi perempuan yang tersenyum tanpa sebab, selalu tinggal di rumah orang lain, gemar bertengkar, pikirannya gelisah dan mengembara, serta keras dalam ucapan dan perangai.
Narada (instructional discourse within gṛhastha-dharma context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It frames marriage as a dharmic partnership: selecting a spouse with steadiness, restraint, and good conduct supports a sattvic household, which in turn protects one’s spiritual practice and social harmony.
By warning against constant quarrel and instability, it indirectly safeguards bhakti: a peaceful home enables regular worship, vrata-observance, and remembrance of Bhagavan without distraction.
No specific Vedanga (like Jyotiṣa or Vyākaraṇa) is taught in this verse; it primarily emphasizes nīti and sadācāra—practical ethical discernment for gṛhastha life.
