Bhāgīratha’s Bringing of the Gaṅgā
Suta (narrator) describing the king’s reaction within the dialogue frame
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta (wonder)
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka (fear)
It highlights the mind’s confusion between appearance and reality, and shows that spiritual progress begins when one admits bewilderment and seeks guidance from a learned dvija (guru-like authority).
Though bhakti is not named here, the mood is foundational: the devotee (like the king) recognizes helplessness and turns toward a higher, dharmic authority—an attitude that later matures into surrender (śaraṇāgati) and devotion.
No specific Vedanga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is dharmic procedure—approaching a qualified Brahmin teacher when faced with doubt and extraordinary experiences.
