Bhāgīratha’s Bringing of the Gaṅgā
Narada (teaching within the Narada Purana dialogue tradition)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It defines true saintliness as universal benevolence and sets Hari-bhakti as the central criterion: whatever increases devotion to Vishnu is what the noble uphold.
Bhakti is presented as the highest purifier and unifier—actions, teachings, and practices are validated when they directly generate devotion to Hari and are endorsed by the sādhus.
No specific Vedanga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught here; the practical takeaway is ethical discernment: prefer teachings and practices that measurably cultivate Hari-bhakti and promote sarva-loka-hita.
