Dharmānukathana
Narration of Dharma
तुलसीरोपणं ये तु कुर्वते मनुजेश्वर । तेषां पुण्यफलं राजन्वदतो मे निशामय ॥ २४ ॥
tulasīropaṇaṃ ye tu kurvate manujeśvara | teṣāṃ puṇyaphalaṃ rājanvadato me niśāmaya || 24 ||
Wahai penguasa di antara manusia, mereka yang menanam Tulasi—wahai Raja, dengarkanlah ketika aku menjelaskan buah kebajikan yang mereka peroleh.
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It introduces Tulasi-ropana (planting Tulasi) as a devotional act whose punya-phala is significant enough that Narada is about to detail it to the king, framing Tulasi service as a direct, accessible form of dharma and bhakti.
By centering a simple, tangible act—planting Tulasi—as worthy of sacred praise and promised merit, it underscores bhakti as practice-based devotion, not limited to complex rites, and sets up Tulasi-seva as a gateway to Vishnu-oriented devotion.
Ritual application is implied rather than technical Vedanga instruction: it points to karma-kanda style practice (a prescribed act yielding punya), with emphasis on correct performance of a devotional observance rather than grammar, meter, or jyotisha.
