The Description of the Caturdaśī Vrata Observed throughout the Twelve Months
Suta (narrating the teaching as transmitted in the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It states the phala (result) of a specific dāna: gifting a Dharma-pratimā is praised as an uttama (excellent) act that yields both iha-sukha (worldly well-being) and svarga-prāpti (attainment of heaven) according to Dharma’s ordinance.
While the verse is framed as dāna-phala rather than explicit bhakti, it supports bhakti-oriented dharma by emphasizing righteous, sattvic giving as a devotional expression that aligns one’s life with Dharma and produces auspicious destiny.
Ritual application (kalpa-prayoga) is implied: it highlights dāna-vidhi and phala-śruti logic—performing a prescribed charitable rite (dharma-pratimā-dāna) leads to specified results (bhoga and svarga).
