The Exposition of the Ṣaṣṭhī-vrata Observed Through the Twelve Months
Narada (teaching in a vrata-vidhi context; traditionally framed within Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhayanaka
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It stresses strict vrata-discipline: staying fully awake during jāgaraṇa is treated as essential for the vow’s purity, and the following saptamī river-visit indicates purification and completion of the rite.
By emphasizing wakeful vigilance, it frames devotion as conscious, sustained remembrance and worship—Bhakti expressed through disciplined attention rather than mere formal participation.
Kalpa (ritual procedure) and tithi-based timing: it links jāgaraṇa to a specific lunar day (saptamī) and prescribes a river-rite as the next step in the observance.
