Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 21 — Kīcaka’s clandestine approach and Bhīma’s covert intervention
The verse presents Sītā as an ethical exemplar: true commitment to dharma is shown by steadfast loyalty and willingness to share hardship for the sake of righteous duty, not merely by comfort-bound affection.
Bhīma cites the well-known story of Sītā—Janaka’s daughter—who accompanied her husband Rāma into the great forest during exile, using her conduct as a persuasive example of ideal spousal devotion and resolve.
