Educational Q&A

As a closing colophon, the line itself does not teach a new doctrine; it signals completion of a chapter centered on Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s lament, implicitly highlighting how sorrow and regret arise from attachment, misjudgment, and the moral consequences of one’s choices within the Mahābhārata’s dharma framework.

Vaiśampāyana marks the end of the forty-eighth chapter whose subject is Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s lament, situated within the Indralokābhigamana section of the Vana Parva; it is an editorial/narrative closure statement rather than a plot event.
