Shloka 44

Śiva Grants the Pāśupata Astra (Pāśupata-Śastra Upadeśa) | शिवेन पाशुपतास्त्रदानम्

देवकार्य तु सुमहत्‌ त्वया कार्यमरिंदम । आरोढ्व्यस्त्वया स्वर्ग: सज्जीभव महाद्युते,'शत्रुदमन! तुम्हें देवताओंका बड़ा भारी कार्य सिद्ध करना है। महाद्युते! तैयार हो जाओ तुम्हें स्वर्गलोकमें चलना है

devakāryaṁ tu sumahat tvayā kāryam ariṁdama | āroḍhavyas tvayā svargaḥ sajjībhava mahādyute ||

Wahai penakluk musuh, suatu tugas yang amat besar bagi para dewa harus engkau selesaikan. Wahai yang bercahaya perkasa, bersiaplah—engkau harus naik ke surga.

Educational Q&A

The verse frames personal effort as service to a higher, divinely aligned duty: when a righteous mission is entrusted, one should prepare oneself and accept the call, even if it leads beyond ordinary human experience (here, ascent to Svarga).

Vaiśaṃpāyana reports that a hero addressed as “ariṁdama/mahādyuti” is being instructed that the gods have a major work to be accomplished through him, and that he must ready himself to go to Svarga.
