ṛṣaya ūcuḥ yathāsya bhāryā sāvitrī sarvaiva sulakṣaṇaiḥ | avaidhavyakarair ayuktā tathā jīvati satyavān |
Para resi berkata: “Karena istri Satyavān, Sāvitrī, dianugerahi segala tanda mujur—yang menolak janda dan menambah kemuliaan suami-istri—maka Satyavān pasti masih hidup.”
The verse highlights the Mahābhārata’s ethical ideal of steadfast marital virtue (pativratā-dharma): Sāvitrī’s integrity and auspicious qualities are presented as powerful enough to counter misfortune, reinforcing faith in dharma and its protective force.
In the Sāvitrī–Satyavān episode, the sages infer Satyavān’s continued life by observing Sāvitrī’s auspicious marks associated with freedom from widowhood, offering reassurance and a hopeful conclusion to the surrounding tension.
