Arrival of Mārkaṇḍeya and Counsel on Truth-Vows
jyāghoṣaś caiva pārthānāṁ brahmaghoṣaś ca dhīmatām | saṁsṛṣṭaṁ brahmaṇā kṣatraṁ bhūya eva vyarocat ||
Waiśampāyana berkata: Denting senar busur para Pārtha dan lantunan khidmat mantra-mantra Weda dari para brāhmaṇa bijak bangkit bersamaan. Berpadu menjadi satu gema, keduanya seakan menampakkan semakin terang persatuan kesucian kependetaan dan keberanian ksatria—seolah menegaskan bahwa kuasa paling luhur bila dituntun pengetahuan suci dan pengendalian diri.
The verse highlights an ideal social-ethical balance: kṣatriya strength (symbolized by the bowstring’s twang) should operate in harmony with brahmanical wisdom and sacred discipline (symbolized by Vedic chanting). When power is guided by knowledge and restraint, it becomes more radiant and legitimate.
The scene evokes an atmosphere where martial readiness and religious recitation occur together. The combined sounds—bows being strung and mantras being chanted—create the impression of a purposeful alliance between warriors and Brahmins, suggesting an organized, dharma-oriented preparation.
