मარკण्डेयागमनम् तथा सत्यव्रत-उपदेशः

Arrival of Mārkaṇḍeya and Counsel on Truth-Vows

नाब्राह्मणस्तात चिरं बुभूषे- दिच्छन्निमं लोकममुं च जेतुम्‌ । विनीतधर्मार्थमपेतमोहं लब्ध्वा द्विज॑ नुदति नृप: सपत्नान्‌,“तात! इहलोक और परलोकपर विजय पानेकी इच्छा रखनेवाला राजा किसी ब्राह्मणको साथ लिये बिना अधिक कालतक न रहे। जिसे धर्म और अर्थकी शिक्षा मिली हो तथा जिसका मोह दूर हो गया हो, ऐसे ब्राह्मगको पाकर राजा अपने शत्रुओंका नाश कर देता है

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: nābrāhmaṇas tāta ciraṁ bubhūṣed icchan imaṁ lokam amuṁ ca jetum | vinīta-dharmārtham apeta-mohaṁ labdhvā dvijaṁ nudati nṛpaḥ sapatnān ||

Waiśampāyana berkata: “Wahai anakku, raja yang ingin menaklukkan dunia ini dan dunia sana tidak patut lama tanpa seorang brāhmaṇa di sisinya. Bila ia memperoleh penasihat dwija yang terdidik dalam dharma dan artha serta bebas dari delusi, sang raja mampu menghalau dan membinasakan para pesaingnya.”
