Gandharva Encounter

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the moral danger of overconfidence in conflict: the Dāityas’ certainty of victory arises from pride in their own might, a mindset that often precedes downfall in epic narratives.

Mārkaṇḍeya describes a moment before or during battle when the gigantic Dāityas, cloud-like and thunderous, roar and become convinced that they will win.
