Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the dharmic ideal that authority should be accompanied by śrī—auspicious merit and dignity—and that rightful appointment to leadership draws the attention and acknowledgment of venerable lineages (ṛṣis and their households).

Mārkaṇḍeya narrates that Kumāra (Mahāsena) has been established as the commander of the gods’ forces, and in response six wives of the Seven Sages approach him, setting up the next episode involving these divine women and Kumāra.
