Kubera-prasāda-vihāra and Counsel on Ajñātavāsa (कुबेरप्रसादविहारः तथा अज्ञातवासोपदेशः)
तपस्तप्त्वा महत् तीव्र प्रसाद्य च पितामहम् इदं वृतं निवासाय देवेभ्यश्वाभयं युधि,उन्होंने अत्यन्त तीव्र तपस्या करके पितामह ब्रह्माजीको प्रसन्न किया और उनसे अपने रहनेके लिये यही नगर माँग लिया। साथ ही यह भी माँगा कि “हमें युद्धमें देवताओंसे भय न हो”
tapas taptvā mahat tīvraṁ prasādya ca pitāmaham | idaṁ vṛtaṁ nivāsāya devebhyaś cābhayaṁ yudhi ||
Dengan bertapa sangat keras dan agung, mereka menyenangkan Pitāmaha Brahmā dan memohon kota inilah sebagai tempat tinggal; serta meminta anugerah agar dalam pertempuran mereka tidak gentar bahkan terhadap para dewa.
अजुन उवाच
The verse highlights the Mahābhārata theme that tapas (disciplined austerity) can generate extraordinary potency and win divine favor, but the ethical weight lies in how that power is directed—toward protection and stability or toward overreaching dominance, even against the gods.
A figure described by Arjuna is said to have undertaken severe austerities, pleased Brahmā, and obtained a boon: the grant of a city as a permanent residence and the assurance of fearlessness in battle, specifically freedom from fear even of the devas.
