Purification and dharma are advanced through reverent engagement with sacred places: bathe, become inwardly and outwardly clean, complete the prescribed duty, and then continue the pilgrimage with disciplined purpose.
The sage Vibhāṇḍaka points out a holy hermitage by a great lake, praises its sanctity and fame, instructs the king to bathe there for purification, and directs him to continue onward to other tīrthas.
