स त्वां गहें भारतानां विरोधा- दन्तो नूनं भवितायं प्रजानाम्‌ । नो चेदिदं तव कर्मापराधात्‌ कुरून्‌ दहेत्‌ कृष्णवर्त्मेव कक्षम्‌,अतः आप जो भरतवंशमें विरोध फैलाते हैं, इसके कारण मैं तो आपकी निन्‍्दा करता हूँ: क्योंकि इस कौरव-पाण्डवविरोधसे निश्चय ही समस्त प्रजाओंका विनाश होगा। यदि आप मेरे कथनानुसार कार्य नहीं करेंगे तो आपके अपराधसे अर्जुन समस्त कौरववंशको उसी प्रकार दग्ध कर डालेंगे, जैसे आग घास-फ़ूसके समूहको जला देती है

sa tvāṃ garhe bhāratānāṃ virodhād anto nūnaṃ bhavitāyaṃ prajānām | no ced idaṃ tava karmāparādhāt kurūn dahet kṛṣṇavartmeva kakṣam ||

Sañjaya berkata: “Aku mencelamu karena menyalakan permusuhan di antara para Bhārata; dari kebencian ini kehancuran rakyat pasti akan datang. Dan bila engkau tidak bertindak seperti yang kuanjurkan, maka karena kesalahan perbuatanmu Arjuna akan membakar para Kuru—laksana api yang melaju di jejaknya yang gelap, melalap belukar rumput kering.”
