मा विषादे मन: पार्थ कृथा: कालो हि दुर्जय: । काल: सर्वाणि भूतानि नियच्छति परे विधौ,“कुन्तीनन्दन! तुम अपने मनको विषादमें न डालो; क्योंकि कालपर विजय पाना अत्यन्त कठिन है। काल ही समस्त प्राणियोंको विधाताके अवश्यम्भावी विधानमें प्रवृत्त कर देता है

mā viṣāde manaḥ pārtha kṛthāḥ kālo hi durjayaḥ | kālaḥ sarvāṇi bhūtāni niyacchati pare vidhau ||

“Jangan biarkan hatimu tenggelam dalam duka, wahai Pārtha; sebab Waktu sungguh sukar ditaklukkan. Waktulah yang mengekang semua makhluk, menggiring mereka dalam ketetapan tak terelakkan dari Sang Penentu Tertinggi.”
