द्रोणपर्व — अध्याय १६२: प्रातःसंध्यायां युद्धप्रवृत्तिः तथा रजोमेघे संमूढता
निपीडयन्तौ बाणौचै: परस्परममर्षिणौ । उत्सृजन्तौ महेष्वासौ शरवृष्टी: समनन््तत:ः,वे दोनों महाधनुर्धर वीर अमर्षमें भरकर एक-दूसरेपर चारों ओरसे बाणोंकी वर्षा करते और उन बाणसमूहोंद्वारा परस्पर पीड़ा देते हुए प्राणोंकी बाजी लगाकर रणभूमिमें डटे रहे
nipīḍayantau bāṇaughaiḥ parasparam amarṣiṇau | utsṛjantau maheṣvāsau śaravṛṣṭīḥ samantataḥ ||
Sañjaya berkata: Kedua pemanah agung itu, menyala oleh amarah dan tak sudi mengalah satu sama lain, menumpahkan hujan anak panah dari segala penjuru. Dengan rentetan panah yang rapat mereka saling menekan dan menyiksa; mempertaruhkan nyawa, keduanya tetap tegak bertahan di medan laga.
