When someone—especially a vulnerable child—comes seeking refuge, dharma favors compassion and protection. Even if the person is connected to an enemy lineage, the ethical duty is to grant mercy rather than act from resentment.
Vaiśampāyana narrates an appeal urging a powerful warrior to show favor to a boy identified as Jayadratha’s grandson. The child has approached in surrender, and the speaker frames mercy as the proper response.
