बभ्रुवाहन-धनंजययोः संग्रामः
Babhruvāhana and Dhanaṃjaya’s engagement at Maṇipūra
याचते त्वां महाबाहो शमं गच्छ धनंजय । “शत्रुदमन महाबाहु धनंजय! यह तुम्हारे चरणोंमें सिर रखकर तुम्हें प्रसन्न करके तुमसे शान्तिके लिये याचना करता है। अब तुम शान्त हो जाओ
yācate tvāṃ mahābāho śamaṃ gaccha dhanaṃjaya |
Waiśaṃpāyana berkata: “Wahai Dhanañjaya yang berlengan perkasa, ia memohon kepadamu—tenanglah, masuklah ke dalam damai. Penakluk musuh, ia meletakkan kepala di kakimu, berusaha menyenangkan hatimu, dan memohon perdamaian; maka redakanlah amarahmu.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse urges śama—inner calm and the choice of peace—presenting restraint and reconciliation as ethically superior to persisting in anger or retaliation.
The narrator reports an appeal addressed to Arjuna (Dhanañjaya), asking him to become pacified and accept peace, indicating a moment where someone seeks to avert further conflict through supplication.
