अनादिर्भूभ्भुवो लक्ष्मी: सुवीरो रुचिराड़ूद: । जननो जनजन्मादिर्भीमो भीमपराक्रम:
anādir bhūr-bhuvo lakṣmīḥ suvīro rucirāṅgadaḥ | janano jana-janmādir bhīmo bhīma-parākramaḥ ||
Bhīṣma berkata: Ia tanpa awal, sebab mula dari segala sebab. Ia penopang bumi dan segala dunia, dan Ia sendiri adalah kemilau yang membuat segala yang indah tampak bersinar. Ia pahlawan luhur, mengenakan gelang lengan yang cemerlang; pengada semua makhluk dan sebab pertama di balik kelahiran mereka yang lahir. Bagi yang jahat Ia adalah Bhīma—mengerikan—dan keberaniannya sendiri menebar gentar, menundukkan segala perlawanan.
