Kali-yuga Dynasties and the Degradation of Kingship
स एकच्छत्रां पृथिवीमनुल्लङ्घितशासन: । शासिष्यति महापद्मो द्वितीय इव भार्गव: ॥ ९ ॥
sa eka-cchatrāṁ pṛthivīm anullaṅghita-śāsanaḥ śāsiṣyati mahāpadmo dvitīya iva bhārgavaḥ
Nanda, penguasa Mahāpadma, akan memerintah seluruh bumi dengan satu payung kekuasaan, bagaikan Paraśurāma yang kedua; tak seorang pun akan berani menentang titahnya.
In the eighth verse of this chapter it was mentioned that King Nanda would destroy the remnants of the kṣatriya order. Therefore he is here compared to Lord Paraśurāma, who annihilated the kṣatriya class twenty-one times in a previous age.
