FAQs

It imparts Sahitya-shastra (kavya/technical composition) knowledge by listing recognized structural modes of racanā—terms describing how a composition/arrangement is formed (expansion, completeness, enclosure, receptacle-like patterns).

By preserving specialized, almost lexicon-like classifications used in Sanskrit literary theory and allied arts, the Agni Purana functions as a compendium that records technical nomenclature beyond theology—here, the vocabulary of compositional structure.

Indirectly, it supports dharmic cultivation through refined speech, learning, and correct knowledge (vidyā); mastery of such śāstric classifications is traditionally considered meritorious as disciplined study and right expression.
