Description of Śākadvīpa and Kuśadvīpa
Cosmographic Geography
saiva nārado varṇyate tasmiṃś ca nāradaparvatād utpanno tasya cāpareṇa śyāmo nāma giriḥ
Varāha
It illustrates Purāṇic naming practices (one feature bearing multiple appellations) and a genealogical-style description of landforms ('arising from' another mountain).
Nāradā/Nāradaparvata and the adjacent Śyāma mountain within Kūśadvīpa; these are typically treated as cosmographic rather than empirically locatable.
The passage is descriptive; its philosophical function is to map an ordered cosmos rather than prescribe conduct.
