The Sanctity of Gayā: Raibhya’s Encounter and Hymn to Viṣṇu
Gadādhara
matsyādināmāni jagatsu kevalaṃ surādisaṃrakṣaṇato vṛṣākapiḥ | mukhyasvarūpeṇa samantato vibhur gadādharo me vidadhātu sadgatim || 7.38 ||
Varāha (default speaker framework; explicit speaker not provided in excerpt)
It reflects a common Purāṇic strategy of organizing divine activity through incarnation-names (e.g., Matsya), presenting them as functional designations tied to cosmic protection, a motif that aids cataloging and transmission of narrative theology across manuscript traditions.
No geographic location is explicitly named in this verse; it is primarily a theological statement and supplication.
The verse emphasizes reliance on the all-pervading protector (vibhu, Gadādhara) and frames divine names as linked to safeguarding beings—an ethical orientation toward protection, stability, and auspicious conduct rather than sectarian assertion.
