Agastya’s Vision of Varuṇa as Nārāyaṇa in Ilāvṛta
dṛṣṭaṃ matkam idaṃ devair bhuvanaṃ yan na dṛśyate | tvatpriyārthaṃ mayā loko darśitaḥ sa dvijottama || 69.26 ||
Varāha
It reflects a common Purāṇic narrative device: privileged cosmological knowledge is disclosed through a teacher–inquirer dialogue, framing geography and cosmology as revealed instruction rather than ordinary perception.
No specific terrestrial site-name appears in this verse; it refers generally to a 'bhuvana/loka' (world or realm) that is not normally visible.
The verse emphasizes disciplined transmission of knowledge: extraordinary claims about the world are presented as guided disclosure for the learner’s benefit, encouraging humility about the limits of ordinary perception.
