Agastya’s Vision of Varuṇa as Nārāyaṇa in Ilāvṛta
yāvat kuṭīṃ tāṃ praviśāmi rājan tapasvinaṃ taṃ sthitam ekadeśe | dṛṣṭvābhigamyābhivadāmi yāvat smayann uvāca apratimaprabhāvaḥ || 69.24 ||
Varāha
It exemplifies a common Purāṇic narrative device: the respectful approach to an ascetic authority figure, framing the transmission of instruction through dialogue and encounter scenes.
No explicit toponym appears in this verse; it only references a kuṭī (a hermitage hut) and an unspecified ekadeśa (a particular spot), so a modern geographic identification cannot be made from this line alone.
The verse foregrounds etiquette and humility in knowledge-seeking: approaching a spiritual practitioner and offering respectful salutation before discourse begins.
