Dharma Across the Four Yugas, the Disruption of Social Conduct, and Ritual Purification from Varṇa-Mixing Transgressions
yuge yuge ka ācāro varṇānāṃ bhavitā mune | kathaṃ ca śuddhir viprāṇām anyastrīsaṅkarair mune || 68.2 ||
Pṛthivī (default inquirer framework)
It reflects a Purāṇic mode of framing social ethics through yuga-based variation (yuga-dharma), a common strategy in late-epic and Purāṇic literature to explain changing norms over time.
No geographic location is named in this verse; the focus is normative (ācāra) and genealogical/social (śuddhi, saṅkara) rather than topographical.
The verse poses an inquiry about appropriate conduct and criteria of purity across ages; it sets up a discussion on how ethical and social norms are to be evaluated in different yugas.
