हयमेधस्य विघ्ने तु संजाते सगरः पुरा । एतदेव चरित्वा तु हयमेधं समापतवान् ॥ ५९.५ ॥
hayamedhasya vighne tu saṃjāte sagaraḥ purā | etad eva caritvā tu hayamedhaṃ samāptavān || 59.5 ||
पहले सगर राजा ने अश्वमेध यज्ञ किया था। जब उसमें रुकावट आई, तो वो परेशान हो गए। फिर उन्होंने यही व्रत किया। इससे उनका यज्ञ पूरा हो गया।
