Reconciliation of Action and Knowledge: Offering All Acts to Nārāyaṇa and the Hymn to the Yajña-Puruṣa
subhīmadaṃṣṭraṃ śaśisūryanetraṃ saṃvatsare chāyanayugmakukṣam | darbhāṅgaromāṇam atedhmaśaktiṃ sanātanaṃ yajñanaraṃ namāmi || 5.47 ||
Varāha (default, as speaker not explicit in the fragment)
It preserves a Purāṇic mode of Vedic ritual exegesis, presenting the sacrifice (yajña) as a cosmic person whose body maps onto calendrical time and natural phenomena—an important bridge between Vedic symbolism and later Purāṇic theology.
No specific place-name appears in this verse; the imagery is primarily cosmological and ritual-symbolic rather than topographic.
The verse foregrounds disciplined reverence for cosmic order expressed through yajña-symbolism—an ethical orientation toward maintaining harmony between human action (ritual/intent) and the rhythms of nature (sun, moon, year, solstices).
